GUALALA RIVER RUN
2015 date - SATURDAY OCTOBER 10TH
Action Network Family Resource Center's major annual fundraiser is the Gualala River Run 5K and 10K road races, and 5K Fun Walk. Held each October, starting and finishing at the spectacular Gualala Arts Center, the race drew over 320 participants in 2013 - a new record. Afterwards a sold out crowd of nearly 170 people enjoyed the scrumptious "Coastal Creations" Brunch in the Gualala Arts Center auditorium.
Billed as the coolest Run in California - where the river meets the sea, the day is a terrific gala featuring runs, walk, brunch and raffle, with all proceeds benefiting the Action Network Family Resource Centers youth programs. The 5K and 10K courses follow the Gualala River through a majestic redwood forest and the 10K course continues on through forests of mystery normally closed to the public. Runners and walkers alike enjoy these magnificent runs in the cool coast climate of Gualala, located two hours north of the Bay Area on the Mendocino Coast, just north of the Sea Ranch. Courses are accurately measured with mile markers.
The Coastal Creations Brunch featuresentrees such as Italian Strata, (savory breadpudding with tomatoes, herbs and cheese), Frittatas, fresh fruit and yoghurt, tea and coffee. The prefect 'reward' after a hard run! Last yearBrunch tickets sold out and many were disappointedon the day of the race, so book your ticketsin advance in 2014.
The GRRaffle prizes winners are drawnat the Brunch, but winners do not need to bepresent to win. Local merchants and businessescontribute wonderful prizes each year - in 2013the Grand Prize was a luxury stay at the renownSea Ranch Lodge, including lodging in a deluxeroom, dinner and a golf package.
